Visiting the Water Tower
Visit Carshalton Water Tower to see for yourself this impressive building with the 18th century sunken bath, the remains of the restored water wheel and the view from the roof looking out over the grounds of Carshalton House and the surrounding area.
Usually the Tower opens on Sunday Afternoons after Easter until the end of September. This is subject to volunteers being available.

Water Tower Admission
The Water Tower will be open every Sunday from 16th April from 2.30pm to 5pm. Adults - £2 Children - Free The last opening of the season will be on Sunday 24th September 2022. |
Hermitage Tours
In addition to the Tower, The Hermitage is open on the 1st and 3rd Sunday each month during the season beginning in May Adults - £2 Children - Free These tours are in addition to the Water Tower admission charge |
Please note; maintenance / restoration works may sometimes limit public access.

Tower Accessibility
If you require wheelchair access please contact the Friend's secretary, Mrs Julia Gertz, at least one day before your proposed visit as it will be necessary to access the site by an alternative route than West Street, which is a stepped entrance.
Once in the grounds there is a ramp into the Water Tower via the Saloon. There is a toilet in the Water Tower that is suitable for wheelchair users.

By Train
The closest rail station is Carshalton and is only 5 minutes away.
Trains regularly run from various mainline stations including Victoria, Clapham Junction, Blackfriars, Sutton, Wimbledon, Epsom and Dorking.
By London Underground
The closest tube station is Morden on the Northern Line, then by 157 Bus from outside the station.
By Tram
The closest tram stop is Mitcham Junction, then by 127 Bus from outside the station/tram stop.
By Car
The Water Tower is located off of Pound Street, part of the A232 between Sutton and Croydon.
There are no parking facilities at the tower, but there are public Car Parks in Carshalton Village, both are about a 5minute walk from the Tower past the picturesque Carshalton Ponds.
For Sat Nav users enter SM5 3AP for the High Street Car Park or SM5 3BN for The Square Car Park.
