Details of the Friends' events including those that we are attending, are listed here. All the money raised benefits the Water Tower and Historic Garden for the conservation and future restoration.

Please Note

All events and openings are subject and are held at the Water Tower unless otherwise stated.

Due to Covid-19 if any restrictions are reintroduced or an event cannot go ahead due to provision of volunteers then money for tickets purchased will be automatically refunded.

Friday 22nd
The Friends Quiz

Back in its regular place at the start of the season, our annual quiz night returns, hosted by Amanda Hill.
Why not enter a team (max 4 person) and test your knowledge. 
Doors Open 7.15pm - Quiz starts at 7.30pm
Tickets £3 per person

May

Sunday 1st
First Opening of the Hermitage

Open from 2.30 - 4.30pm
Saturday 7th
Chamber Music from the time of the Water Tower and Beyond

Join us to be entertained with a selection of light music  from the time of the Water Tower's construction in the early 18th century to more recent times. This evening is presented by Liz Andrews and Friends with music played on period instruments by the Purcell Players.
Light refreshments to be served.
Doors open 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start
£10 per Ticket

June

Saturday 18th
Friends AGM - 2pm-2.45pm


​followed at 3pm by

Talk: Baths and Bathing in Georgian London
Given by Ian Betts  and a Celebratory Tea in honour of our 30th Anniversary. 
Friends - Free
Non Friends - £6 per person

July

Saturday 9th
Regency “Thé Dansant”: ​Tea dance with refreshments.
Last presented in 2019 this popular afternoon will see you entertained by 'The Regency Dancers' who will perform exhibition dances in period style costume. If you are feeling adventurous then there will be opportunity to join in later on.
3pm - 5.30pm
£10 per Ticket including refreshments.

August

By Letter of Invitation only - Homage to the Donors, Celebrating the Tree Planting
in the Hermitage from 4pm-6pm

September

Open House London, National Heritage Opening and Wandle Fortnight

In support of the above events the Water Tower will be open with FREE ENTRY from 1pm - 5pm on

Times Past Revisited: Highlights of Films Over the Years
Since 1999 John Freeman has presented various shows from his 16mm film and digital archive, showing in well in excess of 100 documentaries and educational films.

This year he is providing a rare opportunity to go back sample some of the highlights of these films. Either new to the films or regular attendee, we're sure you'll find something interesting in the mix.

Our traditional Festive event sets the scene for the Christmas period with music and seasonal light refreshment.
